Guitarist Dimitris
Dekavallas
Once described by Julian
Bream as a ‘very exciting’
performer, Dimitris
Dekavallas has always been
considered one of the most
talented guitarists of his
age. He was born in
Athens-Greece in 1982 and
began learning the guitar at
the age of 6. He studied at
the Royal Academy of Music
guitar studies under Micheal
Lewin, Timothy Walker and
John Mills, where he won the
Tebutt Exibition Scholarship
Prize, the ‘Blyth Watson
Award’, and the IKY NATIONAL
Scholarship Foundation in
Greece. Dimitris has played
in masterclasses with George
Hatzinikos, David Russell,
Hubert Käppel, Carlos
Marchione and Carlos
Domeniconi. He has also
played in workshops with
John Williams, Sir Richard
Rodney Bennett and Sir Peter
Maxwell Davies. He has taken
part in many guitar
competitions and music
festival and he has won more
than 10 prizes in
international and national
competitions including the
‘Eduard Pamfil’
International Competition,
and ‘Ivor Mairants’
International guitar
competition. Dimitris has
given recitals in England,
Greece, Italy, France and
Romania. He also works for
Live Music Now. Dimitris
plays with a ‘G. Smallman’
(2000) guitar on loan from
the Royal Academy.
Gayagum player Ji Eun
Jung
Ji Eun Jung, player of the
traditional Korean string
instrument, Gayagum, did BA
in Korean Traditonal Music
at Ewha Women’s University
and MA in Asian Religious
Music at Dong Gook
University. She was a
chairwoman of Department of
Traditional Instrumental
Music of Gyounggi Province
and is currently the
director of KAYA Trio. She
has performed in many
concerts and events such as
Oxford New Year’s
Celebration, Anglo-Korean
Society Annual Event at
Korean Cultural Centre in
UK, ‘Black History Month’
performance hosted by
Kingston Council and Earl’s
Court Project Team Concert
for the Homeless.

Music Concert
at Hobkirk House - 24 May
2008
We would like to invite you
to the charitable music
concert at Hobkirk House on
Saturday 24th May at 2pm.
Theatre 4 All, a theatre
company based in New Malden,
has been organizing free
events on a regular basis
for the residents of Hobkirk
House, a nursing home
located in New Malden, as
well as the local
communities.
We believe that this sort of
event can brighten up the
every day lives of the
elderly people in the centre
and, of course, the
audiences just by being part
of it.
The Performances include a
Guitar – Gayagum (Korean
traditional string
instrument) Duo and a
Trumpet solo.

is the leader of the Culture
& Art Team of Bethel Church
and also plays for London
Kensington Temple Church
Band.
Ji Eun Jung, player
of the traditional Korean
string instrument, Gayagum,
is the director of KAYA
Trio. They have performed
together in many concerts
and events such as Oxford
New Year’s Celebration,
Anglo-Korean Society Annual
Event at Korean Cultural
Centre, UK and Earl’s Court
Project Team Concert for the
Homeless.
Trumpet Solo by Hamisi

Hamisi studied Music at
Morley College and has been
busking with the London
Underground/Carling since
2005 as well as being
involved in many concerts in
London. His repertoire
covers ballads, jazz,
African music and popular
music.
