Bong San Tal Chum (Korean Traditional Mask Dance & Music) Workshops & Performances
Bong San Tal Chum (Korean Traditional Mask Dance Team)
Korean National Arts Heritage No. 17
The Bong San Tal Chum (Korean Traditional Mask Dance) originated in the Haeseo province and is performed in May. Mask dance is an important Korean cultural inheritance that contains the thoughts of the Korean people of the past, but still depicts the reality of human life today.
Kook-Ak (Korean Traditional Music): Pansori (traditional song) and Minyo (folk song)
Korean traditional music is varied and complex but all forms maintain a set of rhythms (called Jangdan) and a loosely defined set of melodic modes. It is based on Buddhist and native Shamanistic beliefs. Each regional folk song is characterised by their simple and unique melodic lines and rich texts.
